time warp

Hi everybody. I don’t know if I still have readers because, well, I have been neglecting everything related to blogging these past couple of weeks, and the reason is that my entire life is currently devoted to putting together wedding invitations. We are so close to finishing our wedding invitations, and yet still so far away, because, well, they are harder than they were supposed to be. Shocking, I know. I think I maybe told some folks, (maybe this lady) that they were pretty easy and even FUN, but hell no; they are neither easy nor fun. They are more like a shit ton of work, and some one needs to establish a labor union for ill-informed brides who think they can do it themselves.

I must, however, give a huge shout out to my future husband, who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in the invitation realm. I literally could not have done it without him. He is magical and wonderful and SMOOCH!

Also, we bought a house and I waffle between excitement and buyer’s remorse, and I’m pretty sure that’s normal. We don’t close until May 30th and we’ve pretty much decided just to let our apartment fall into complete disgrace until that date, because we just can’t be bothered to pretend we even remotely enjoy living there any more. We are counting the days until we say “ba-bye” to that hole of an over-priced dump. Good riddance.

I think, honestly, that the invitations, emergency wedding planning (Brett and I are huge slackers in this department), working, dealing with the “details” of home buying, watching entire seasons of Friday Night Lights, and sitting in traffic have occupied all of my time for the past 2 weeks. It’s no fun and I sort of cannot wait until September arrives, because at that point we will have moved into our house, gotten married, gone on our “honeymoon” and returned to reality. This time right now, it sort of feels surreal.

Now, to turn it back to you all, because I’m nothing if not concerned that I have not read the 3,000 posts in my feeder, tell me what you typically do on a Friday night? Do you paint the town red? Sit at home and wonder how it is that you used to have enough energy to paint the town red on a Friday night? Enjoy family time? Have a standing movie date? Fall asleep?

We sometimes go out, sometimes stay in, sometimes take a dance class, sometimes run errands . . . We have no “usual” I guess.

Hey. We got a notice asking us to renew our APT lease today. They are "pleased to offer us a new rental rate" of only $100 more than what we pay now. AND they will generously throw in a free paint touch up and carpet shampoo.

Ya know what I say? Fuck ALL that noise, this place is an overpriced dump.

We usually try to do something fun with our son, then after he goes to sleep, start to watch a movie (until I doze off).

Whee, I'm so glad you found a better place to live, and that your wedding invites are almost finished. :)

As for my Friday night, I found myself standing in the movie rental section of our grocery store BY MYSELF with two ELDERLY married people. Just. Kill. Me.

Yay for new digs! Also, frantic wedding planning makes the days fly by at least - better than slow boring days, right?

Friday nights are usually spent in with TM. I'm old and boring and can only paint towns red one night a week and that is usually Saturday.

On Fridays we put the kids to bed and then do pretty much the same evening as usual, except we often stay up until TEN THIRTY instead of ten!

NOOOOO. We ARE making our own invitations, and I was COUNTING on it being easy and fun, because YOU SAID IT WAS.

Ahem. Anyway. Congrats on the house! Yay for getting away from stupid apartment! And also, on Friday nights we sometimes go out, usually for dinner as we try to avoid movie theaters on opening night, or to some other Thing or Event. But more often than not we stay home, cook, and cuddle. Oh and we also like to grocery shop on Friday nights because the grocery store is totally empty.

Fridays are no different than any other night, except occasionally our oldest one will be sleeping at a friend's house, or one of her friends will be here. The only time we go out is if someone offers to watch our kids for us because paying a babysitter for four kids (well, technically the sitter would only have to watch three of them, but the fourth would be here) is not really feasible, considering the cost. When I had one kid, I used to get a babysitter and go out. Those days are so over.

We have no usual either, so it's pretty random. Sometimes we will go to a movie, sometimes dinner, sometimes a run after work followed by dinner and sometimes we hang out with friends. Luckily, we don't have anything set in stone, because I like to change things up.

Yay! I have missed you!

On Fridays we almost always get pizza, and then usually we catch up on the DVR since Thursdays are show-heavy and we get behind.

Um, woo hoo?

Fridays are reserved for a little program called "Battlestar Galactica." I got back in touch with my ex so I could go to his place to watch.

CONGRATS on the house! I bet you guys are SO THRILLED to get out of apartment living.

We don't have a "typical" Friday night. Sometimes, if we're having a busy weekend, we'll clean the house Friday night so we don't have to deal with it. Most of the time we have Game Night and play darts and foosball, and then watch a movie or catch up on shows. Occasionally, we'll go out to eat or shoot pool. Tonight, we're meeting up with my brother for an early dinner and then making a grocery/Target run since we'll be gone all day tomorrow.

Friday night is pizza-and-a-movie night with the kids. And woe to the parent who tries to suggest chow mein or a ball game instead. On one hand I like it--I don't have to "think" about what's for dinner one night out of seven. On the other hand--I'm CHOKING on pizza! I'm NOT in college anymore, and I JUST CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!

Er...sorry about that. Enjoy your weekend!

OH! And congrats on the house! So thrilled for you!

Buyer's remorse NEVER ends. And it doesn't even fade away.

BUT you'll ALWAYS love living in a house 100 TIMES BETTER than living in an overpriced, pretentious DUMP.

Er...sorry again. Perhaps I need to back off the caffeine a little here....

Those few of you that read my blog will be SHOCKED AND AMAZED to hear that I spend my Friday nights partying. The only variations are the following:
1) Do we go to The Kickstand?
2) Do we have people over instead?
3) Are we too hungover from THURSDAY night to do anything but sleep?

I know, you're shocked and you'd never peg ME, such a stable and responsible person as behaving in such a manner...

;)

What do I do on a Friday night? Um, read blogs, do grad school work and watch a lot of HGTV. How old am I?! Dear god.

I've missed you! Congrats on the house, and I am sorry about the invites. I say - ELOPE.

Ahem.

Fridays? Most Friday's we head home right at 5:00 p.m., and unfortunately, that alone feels luxurious. (SAD) Then, I start the pizza dough from scratch, A. helps me shred the cheese and get the other toppings ready. If we are lucky, there is a Rockies game on and we just veg out with our pizza and some YUMMY brews.

Oh, I wish it were Friday, not a freakin' Monday! Damn.

I pity people who have a "usual" anything. I LOVE mixing it up.

Congrats on your new house!!! I had similar mixed feelings about my new place. We close on May 6th. EEEEK!
